Beaches & foreshores

Swimming

Gold Coast City’s beaches and foreshores are famous around the world for their unique beauty and contribution to the region’s tourism industry.

For decades people have flocked to enjoy over 52 kilometres of ocean beaches professionally maintained and protected by the Gold Coast City Council.

Enjoy our beaches and foreshores, but remember to do so safely and always look after the beautiful environment we come to enjoy.

Weddings

Beach weddings are approved by Council at no cost to the applicant on a non exclusive basis for a simple ceremony only and the party is to be limited to a maximum of 50 people. This will ensure the ceremony has minimal impact on the environment and passive recreational beach users. The beach is for the use and enjoyment of all and public access must not be restricted in any way. It is therefore, not appropriate for people considering a large formal wedding. There is no cost to be married on Gold Coast beaches.

If you are planning to say "I do" on the golden sands of the City, you must obtain Council's approval. Please complete the Beach Wedding Application Form:

Dog prohibited areas

Dogs are not permitted within 200 metres of flagged areas on the City's beaches. For further information on where you can and cannot take your dog on the Gold Coast, please visit:
