Broadwaterway from Sundale Green Bridge to Main Beach shared path upgrade

Commenced: May 2017
Complete: October 2017

Project description:

The $1.3 million upgrade of the Broadwaterway shared path is now complete. These upgrades will deliver infrastructure improvements for pedestrians and cyclists travelling from the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games venues in Southport to tourist and accommodation precincts in Main Beach.

These improvements will create a definable and enjoyable experience for spectators as they journey to and from host venues. The project will have a legacy benefit for the community and contributes to delivering a key objective in the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031.

Construction details:

The project included:

  • a new four-metre wide shared path
  • lighting upgrades
  • new bike parking
  • showers facilities
  • landscaping improvements
  • seating and bins.

We also constructed a new 50-metre path to connect the eastern end of the path to the Southport Yacht Club at MacArthur Parade.

Proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.
