Chardon Bridge replacement project

Bridge replacement works have been completed at Chardon Bridge, Cedar Creek.

Construction was completed on time and the bridge has reopened to traffic. It includes a new pathway providing better and safer access for pedestrians and cyclists.

The new bridge is approximately six metres higher than the previous structure to improve flood immunity during wet weather events.

The project was jointly funded by Logan City Council, City of Gold Coast and the Australian Government’s Bridges Renewal Programme.

Works included

  • demolishing the existing timber bridge
  • constructing a new two lane reinforced concrete bridge
  • installing a two-metre-wide shared access path on the north eastern side of the bridge for pedestrians and cyclists
  • road pavement rehabilitation works on the approaches to the bridge
  • provision of new road drainage and installation of guardrails and signage.

Project benefits

  • improved safety for all bridge users
  • accommodating two-way traffic and pedestrian access across the bridge
  • improved flood immunity during wet weather events.

Thank you for your patience during the works.
