Council owns and operates eight cemeteries across the city, offering pleasant and cost-effective burial and ashes sites.

Alberton Cemetery is located on two hectares of land set aside in 1872. It is owned by the City of Gold Coast (City).

Sites are available for purchase.

Earliest recorded burial

A German migrant with the surname of Voigt was buried in 1886.

Earlier burials took place in the cemetery when a group of German migrant families settled in the area.

The cemetery also contains a number of unknown locations of burials. In 2003, a memorial was erected in the cemetery to commemorate names of the unknown burials.
