Alberton Cemetery

Alberton Cemetery is located on two hectares of landĀ set aside in 1872. It is owned by the City of Gold Coast.

Sites are available for purchase.

Opening hours

The cemetery is open from 6.30am to 6.30pm.

Burials

The cemetery has four monumental sections available for burials.

A newly developed area within Alberton Cemetery is now open for natural burials.

Earliest recorded burial

A German migrant with the surname of Voigt was buried in 1886.

Earlier burials took place in the cemetery when a group of German migrant families settled in the area.

The cemetery also contains a number of unknown locations of burials. In 2003, a memorial was erected in the cemetery to commemorate names of the unknown burials.

Approximate burials since first record (as at 2009)

219 burials.
