Changing Places - toilets

Changing Places toilets Broadwater Parklands

Changing Places toilets are different to standard accessible toilets. They have extra features, more space, and are accessed using a Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK).

Each Changing Places toilet provides:

  • a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • a ceiling tracking hoist system
  • additional circulation space
  • a safe and clean environment

Broadwater Parklands and Burleigh Heads also include a shower, and wide entry doors to allow beach wheelchair access.

Please note: You need to bring your own sling to use these toilets.

Locations

Changing Places toilets are currently located in Southport, Burleigh Heads and Carrara with an adult-sized changing facility in Broadbeach. For detailed information and maps for each facility, please click on the links below.

Accessing the toilet

These toilets require a Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) to access.

Apply for a key (MLAK) for these toilets

As part of International Day of People with Disability  on 3 December, the City of Gold Coast is giving away a limited number of free Master Locksmiths Access Keys (MLAK) to eligible residents. Eligibility is restricted to people with a disability that need to use these facilities.

To order an MLAK from the City, please complete the application form and return it to the Safe and Liveable Communities Branch. Return details are listed on the application form. To confirm eligibility for a MLAK, applicants are required to submit at least one attachment as outlined on the application form.

How to use the equipment

Please note that slings are not provided. To use this facility you need to bring your own ‘four-looped’ sling.
