Works to renew a section of the rock structure, known as the northern training wall at Currumbin Creek are now complete. The rock structure was built in the 1980s to stabilise the creek entrance and protect the beach from erosion. It has faced a number of storm events over the years and we are renewing the most vulnerable section.

Commenced: July 2017
Completed: September 2017
Cost: $500,000

The works included excavating sand from around the structure, backfilling using heavy machinery and placing large rocks on the wall.

This project forms part of our Ocean Beaches Strategy 2013 – 2023 which aims to boost our defences against storm damage.
