Maintenance and construction

Every working day City officers are fixing footpaths, tending parks and making decisions that shape the future of the Gold Coast.

Our people are responsible for ensuring our city infrastructure and community facilities are second to none. To achieve this, specialist staff are employed in the following areas:

Our teams are responsible for the maintenance of city buildings, bridges, parks, landscapes, roads, footpaths, beaches, and stormwater drainage. They maintain everything, from cleaning barbecues and amenity blocks to removing graffiti and clearing storm water drains.

If you notice a City asset that needs repairing, refilling or is in need of a clean or tidy up, let our maintenance team know by completing our online Report a problem form.

With close to 1000 individual projects scheduled this year, our can do construction teams are responsible for the construction of a diverse range of projects relating to drainage, parks, roads, bridges, footpaths, and landscaping.

Part of our construction team is also responsible for the management of City’s highly successful hard rock quarry, which mines approximately 300,000 tonnes of A grade pavement material each year for both the City and external clients.

To maintain and develop the city’s assets and natural environment, our people come from a range of different trades and labour backgrounds, including:

  • Electrical
  • Mechanics
  • Panel beating
  • Plumbing
  • Fitting and turning
  • Carpentry
  • Automotive
  • General labour positions.

We are working hard to build a vibrant city now and into the future.
