Permits and licensing approvals

This page contains important information on how to use our online service to:

  • renew or cancel your permit/licence
  • update details on an existing permit/licence during renewal, or
  • provide additional information for a permit/licence application.

Information on how to use other channels for these services is also provided in the relevant sections.

Register for My Account

Note: To renew your permit or licence online, you must first register for My Account – a secure customer account accessed with your unique user name and password.

Renew your permit or licence - nil fee

Certain permits and licences do not attract an annual fee (e.g. resident parking permit, food business licence) and are renewed by way of acknowledgement to the City.

If you have no renewal fee to pay, you can renew your permit or licence using one of the methods below.

You can also use our online option to cancel the permit or licence or update details at the time of renewal.

  • Click on the link below to sign in to My Account. A new window will open to display the online tool. Once signed in, select 'Permits and licensing' then 'Licence renewal or response' from the menu. If you have a permit or licence due for renewal, it will be displayed here.

Please note: Payments by credit card will incur a surcharge.

You can use the options below to cancel your permit or licence or update details at the time of renewal. If updating details, please note that payment must also be completed.

Provide additional information for your permit or licence application

You can provide us with additional information for your permit or licence application using one of the methods below. Ensure you quote the reference on your correspondence from the City.

Online (Note: this option is only available if advised in the information request from the City)

Cancel an existing permit or licence

You can cancel your permit or licence online in response to a renewal notice. Refer to the renewal information in the sections above.

  • When I log in to My Account, why can’t I see all of my licences?

    In the coming weeks, we will be continuing to consolidate customer accounts to the one My Account. For any queries, please email our Customer Contact team at eregistration@goldcoast.qld.gov.au or call us on 07 5667 5821.

  • Why did my Authentication Key go to another mailing address?

    My Account registration is allocated to an individual person or organisation. For businesses that have more than one mailing address, your Authentication Key is only sent to one mailing address.

  • What is the permit and licensing renewal process for nil fees?

    You can renew permits and licences online through My Account or sign and date the renewal notice and return it by post to us. Mailing details are on the back of the renewal form.

  • How do I renew my nil fee permit or licence using My Account?

    • Register for My Account
    • sign-in and select the ‘Permits and licensing’ drop down list
    • select ‘Renewal or further information’
    • select the applicable group of permits or licences and select ‘Next’
    • select the permit or licence you wish to renew and complete the response page
    • select the response: ‘Renew my permit’.
  • Can I advise of updates to my permit or licence when renewing?

    Yes, via My Account.

    • Register for My Account
    • sign-in and select the ‘Permits and licensing’ drop down list
    • select ‘Renewal or further information’
    • select the applicable group of permits or licences and select ‘Next’
    • select the permit or licence you wish to renew and complete the response page
    • when completing the response page, select ‘Renew my licence/permit – changes detailed’ and provide the updated details in the space provided or upload an attachment.

    For permits or licences that require a payment, updates can be made as well as making a payment.

  • What if I don’t need to renew my permit or licence?

    Advise us via My Account.

    When completing the response page, select ‘Do not renew my licence/permit – reason detailed’ and state the reason you are not renewing your permit or licence in the space provided or upload an attachment.

    Providing this information will mean we don’t have to contact you again regarding this permit or licence.

  • I’m a joint licensee but the renewal only contained an Authentication Key for the other licensee, what do I do now?

    The renewal notice contained an Authentication Key for one holder of the permit or licence.

    Each permit or licence holder needs to create their own My Account to view their permit or licence, however, any licensee or permit holder can complete the renewal. A renewal response can only be completed once.

  • Why can’t I ‘submit response’ for all my permits/licences?

    The option to ‘submit response’ is only available after a request to provide an online response has been issued by the City for either renewal, or a further information request.

    The option to ‘Submit response’ also expires after the due date.
