Crime and Safety Profile of Surfers Paradise

The Schoolies Festival Three-Point Plan, approved by Cabinet in May 2003, identified the need to develop and implement a Surfers Paradise Community Safety Action Plan.

The action plan, Keeping Surfers Safe, addresses safety issues in Surfers Paradise throughout the year - not just during the Schoolies Festival period.

Keeping Surfers Safe

City of Gold Coast (City) facilitated the development of the Keeping Surfers Safe project with support from the Queensland Government.

Keeping Surfers Safe includes a Crime and Safety Profile of Surfers Paradise, prepared by an independent consultant, which is a comprehensive document containing analysis of crime and safety data collected from key agencies and community consultation, with reference to both actual and perceived crime and safety issues in Surfers Paradise.

It is evident the Keeping Surfers Safe project provided valuable information to the City, State Government agencies and the Surfers Paradise community. Considering the comprehensive nature of the report, it remains a useful planning tool and reference document.
