Dudley Street catchment stormwater drainage upgrade - Stage 1

Stormwater pipes

Commenced: August 2017
Completion: December 2018
Total project cost: $4.1 million

As part of the City of Gold Coast's commitment to improve flood resilience, works to reduce flooding in the Dudley Street catchment are underway.

Project information

The City has completed the installation of underground stormwater drainage along Atlantic Avenue and will now be commencing the road restoration works. Over the coming weeks, the kerb will be removed and replaced on both sides of Atlantic Avenue, and the road resurfaced. By mid-December 2018 it is envisaged all works will be completed.

On 6 November 2018, Crescent Avenue will return to being permanently closed at the intersection of Avanti Street and Crescent Avenue, and the Avanti Street road closure at 45 Avanti Street will be permanently reopened to traffic (refer below map).

Access to Crescent Avenue and Atlantic Avenue will be via the Gold Coast Highway, and access to Avanti Street will be via Markeri Street.

While the road and kerb works are underway in Atlantic Avenue, driveway access will be maintained and vehicles will be temporarily diverted around the works by traffic controllers. The safety of the public and workers will be a priority at all times and will be working to ensure disruptions are kept to a minimum.

The upgrade of drainage infrastructure is an important investment in our city’s flood resilience. Thank you for your patience during these essential works.
