The Adventure & Backpacker Industry Conference (ABiC)
The aim of the program is to provide delegates with practical learning they can apply in their own businesses to boost the bottom line. As well as formal learning during the conference itself, there are networking opportunities at the pre-conference drinks, during the tea/coffee/lunch breaks on the day and at the gala dinner in the evening. This is the opportunity for delegates to share best practice with, and learn from, industry colleagues.
There is still time to book your place for ABiC, so be quick it will prove to be extremely beneficial.

Get to Know Your GCATG Committee Members
Clare Ramsay, Tourism Project Officer, Gold Coast City Council.
A quick background on me - I was born in the lovely town of Dandenong in Victoria, lived briefly in Selby, before moving to Langwarrin which is close to Frankston on the Mornington Peninsula.
I began my love affair with Quuensland at an early age as we would visit both the
Gold & Sunshine Coasts on family long-haul drives annually from down South (this is before Jetstar and Virgin existed - we are talking Millard caravan and three kids in the backseat playing spotto whilst punching each other over the invisible line).
I lived in Langy until the middle of Uni, when I took a year off and went on a road trip with my sister up the East Coast to Noosa where I met my partner. I spent the next two years going back & forth between the Sunshine Coast & Victoria before moving officially to Bris-Vegas in 2005. In late 2006 we headed off overseas via SE Asia to do the London thing, working and travelling for two years around Europe, and later to the USA and Mexico. I have many highlights from the trip, including walking the Cinque Terre in Italy, and running down the street being chased by an army tank in Hanoi. Ah… the memories.
Upon our return to the land Downunder we decided to try and settle and so relocated to the sunny Gold Coast rather than just drive down every weekend from Brissy. So far so good - living 200m from the beach and loving it!
I recently joined the GCATG in place of Sarah Gardiner as the Council representative on the Committee. Having recently returned from a two year backpacking / working holiday adventure I feel my involvement in the group is relevant not only to my personal interests in the market, but also to my role as Tourism Project Officer.
I am responsible for administering the Ambassador program for the group along with managing the enewsletter, the annual review and other projects as they arise in conjunction with the committee and GCATG members.
