The 18th Biennial Stanthorpe Art Festival is an acquisitive art award and exhibition open to all forms of art media. First prize is $10,000 , with up to $20,000 of acquisitions to be made for the Southern Downs Regional Council Collection. The festival will run from 26 February to 18 April 2010 in conjunction with the Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival. Entries close 20 November 2009. The National Film & Sound Archive (NFSA) offers internships to support final year and post-graduate students from Australian and overseas tertiary institutions. Eligible students may select from a range of projects that engage with any aspect of Australia's historic and contemporary moving image and recorded sound culture and audiovisual archiving. Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing 2010, presented by Presbyterian Ladies' College, Sydney, offers a $15,000 acquisitive art prize and a $2,000 non-acquisitive prize for the People's Choice Award. Robina Community Art Gallery 4 to 17 November, Robina State High School showcases the Year 12 Graduation Exhibition. From 18 November to 1 December, Gold Coast Magic will present Artists in Paradise - Cultural Transformation.

Paul Macdowell's A River in Bali exhibition will be held at the Royal Queensland Art Society Gallery, 25 Broadbeach Boulevard, Broadbeach during the month of November. His watercolour, pen and ink drawings capture the Badung River in Bali. Paul is creatively participating in the United Nations challenge to look after rivers. Art enthusiasts interested in drawing/mark-making, installation art and hybrid mediums are invited to attend an intensive workshop with Judy Anderson at 19 KAREN Contemporary Artspace on 14 November, 1pm to 4pm. The workshop includes an artist talk and presentation featuring artists who use making-strange strategies, and a practical studio workshop demonstrating 2D and 3D palimpsestic techniques. Arts Queensland presents the Queensland Regional Arts and Culture Conference: Artspeak from 18 to 20 November 2009. This conference will bring together more than 200 arts participants and practitioners from across the state and provide a valuable opportunity to explore new ideas and partnerships. The conference will be held in partnership with the Scenic Rim Regional Council, and The Centre at Beaudesert will be the main conference location. Funding
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a Queensland Government and Gold Coast City Council partnership to support local arts and culture. RADF provides one-off, short-term, project-based financial assistance to support professional development and cultural development activities. Four RADF rounds are offered each financial year. Arts Queensland invites proposals from individuals and organisations for a new touring fund to bring fresh product and opportunities for Queensland's performing arts. Applications are open to all genres - music, dance, theatre workshops, residencies and youth arts activities. Closing dates for applications are 13 November for 2010 proposals and 26 February for proposals to tour in 2011. Sir Robert Askin Operatic Travelling Scholarship provides support for male opera singers to assist them to further their cultural education. It is awarded every two years for study, maintenance and travel either in Australia or overseas. To be eligible for this award, you must be an Australian citizen aged 18 to 29 years. The Phonographic Performances Company of Australia (PPCA) provides one-off grants through the Performers' Trust Foundation to promote music and the performing arts. Grants are provided for performances at or for charitable institutions, promotion and encouragement of musical and theatrical education, promotion and encouragement of the performing arts to the general public and to offer assistance to a beneficiary who is unable to maintain himself/herself. The Queensland Government, through its Indigenous Business Development Grant Scheme, provides financial assistance to help Indigenous people increase their economic independence, take up employment opportunities and improve their quality of life.
