Metro Gallery is a commercial art space committed to showing prominent contemporary artists and developing young artists through the annual Metro Art Award. Artists under 35 years of age can submit one painting of any genre to win the $50,000 art prize. Submissions are due by 31 March 2010. The Lethbridge Gallery, Paddington, Qld, is hosting a new art competition open to national and international artists for small-scale artworks. Entrants may submit original paintings, drawings and 2D artworks up to 60cm for the $10,000 acquisitive art prize. Entries close 23 April 2010. Cafe d'bar gallery is offering local artists a place to hold four-week exhibitions at no charge. The cafe is open seven days a week with experienced staff available to discuss your work with potential buyers and onlookers. Arts Northern Rivers seeks community artists to include on its Visual Arts Network (VAN) database. Robina Community Art Gallery. From 16 December to 12 January the exhibition Love this Moment will feature local artists Brian Morris, Lisa Frost and Margaret Budd. From 13 January to 25 January local Aboriginal art will be on display. The Robina Gallery is located in the Robina Community Centre complex, Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina. Get into Council's Vibe Youth Program with more than 200 free or low-cost adventure, extreme and creative activities across the Gold Coast. This program has been designed for young people aged 12 to 25 years. To download the program go to www.goldcoastcity.com.au/vibe.

The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) has announced the Australia Council for the Arts will host the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture in Melbourne in October 2011. To find out more visit www.ifacca.org.

Summer Sunday Sessions will be held at Gold Coast City Art Gallery from 3pm on the following dates: 17, 24, 31 January; 7 and 14 February. Take in the exhibitions and enjoy a chill out session with some of the best emerging singer songwriter talent on the Gold Coast selected as part of the A-Venue music program. Gold Coast City Art Gallery is located at 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise.

OzFrank Theatre will be offering a 10 day intensive training workshop from 22 to 31 January, during the evenings, in the West End, Brisbane. Frank Theatre's actor training is based on the Suzuki method that emphasises teamwork allied to powerful voice and body skills. The Gold Coast Potters' Association is conducting pottery workshops for kids in January. Warriors of Brazil, featuring some of Brazil's most skilled practitioners of Capoeira, an art form that blends dance, music and martial arts into a spectacular, fluid whole, will play at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 25 to 30 January. Tony Gough, UK-based theatre-maker, is the creator and director of Warriors of Brazil which grew out of his ongoing exploration of the impact the creative arts can have on community-based capacity building. Funding

The next Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) round closes on 26 February 2010. RADF is a partnership program between Arts Queensland and Council which provides financial assistance to support local arts and culture. The grant provides one-off, short-term, project-based financial assistance for community cultural development activities, artists and cultural workers. RADF guidelines and application forms are available at www.goldcoastcity.com.au/artfund. Council's Rapid Response Cultural Development Fund is a program that provides emergency or top-up quick turnaround funding for established projects or for small scale activities that are outside an organisation's or individual's usual program. Guidelines and an application form can be downloaded from www.goldcoastcity.com.au/artfund.

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust offers grants of up to $7,000 to early career artists for professional development overseas. Grants are offered to artists practicing in a wide range of disciplines within the arts. Applications close on 1 February 2010 for travel after 14 May.
