The Arts Centre Gold Coast, in collaboration with Council's Creative Juices program, is offering a free information session for artists, performers and companies interested in receiving information on touring within Queensland and nationally. What is involved? What opportunities are there for companies and individual artists to tour? Who is eligible? How does it all work? HUSH at Southport Branch Library continues its monthly acoustic music showcase with some of the best contemporary acts on the Gold Coast, as part of Council's A-Venue program. Catch Rylie Comrie and Josh Lovegrove performing an intimate set in the library foyer on Sunday 30 October from 12.30pm.
The Designworks College of Design will present its exhibition Glimpse at the Robina Community Gallery until 17 October. The Robina Gallery is located in the Robina Community Centre, Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina.
Robina Community Gallery is now accepting applications from arts and cultural organisations, schools and artist collectives for consideration for inclusion in the annual community exhibitions program at the Robina Art Gallery for the period January to June 2012. Arts Minister Simon Crean has invited all Australians to comment on a discussion paper for the country's first National Cultural Policy in almost two decades. The 2high Festival is looking for motivated, independent and enthusiastic young people to come on board and be part of the team. Volunteers are needed in the lead up to the Festival from Wednesday 26 October through to Saturday 29 October. Youth Arts Queensland (YAQ) invites artists from across Australia to apply for the 2011 JUMP national mentoring program for young and emerging artists, with applications open until 22 October. The Big Book Club Inc. has received funding from Australia Council for the Arts to project manage the development and production of three picture books written and illustrated by emerging Indigenous writers and illustrators. The books will be published and distributed nationally by Allen & Unwin. The Gold Coast City Council Australia Day Awards 2012 are now open for nominations. The awards recognise exceptional achievements in areas of community service, sporting, environmental and cultural endeavours. Nomination forms are available at all Council offices and libraries, or online at www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/australiadayawards Closing date for nominations is Friday 18 November 2011.

The Queensland University of Technology, in conjunction with the Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House presents the IP and Technology Law Clinic, a monthly public clinic that provides free legal advice to up-and-coming musicians, artists, writers and technology gurus. Inter Urban Arts is providing Mentoring and Peer Support (MAPS) training for young people under 30 who have either overcome adversity and want to use their skills in the community, or people who are seeking training in community work and using arts in a community context. Retrospect Galleries presents Wild Soles, featuring the latest dynamic body of work from award winning artist Mari Hirata. The Arts Centre Gold Coast runs a FREE Movie Review Club (MRC) on the fourth Wednesday of each month from March to November annually. Each month the MRC's Coordinator Ann Krebs gathers a range of panellists from Gold Coast and Brisbane film schools and universities to contribute to the discussions about the chosen film for the month. Funding
The Australia Council for the Arts has launched the Creative Australia Artists Grants, a five-year program of funding which will support artists, including young and emerging artists, across all art forms to deliver new artistic works, undertake fellowships and create additional presentations to Australian audiences. Artists, arts groups and creative people from South East Queensland are invited to submit an expression of interest to receive Creative Projects Support through Queensland Arts Council's Creative Generator SEQ program. All art forms are eligible to apply for support. Applicants must speak to the Creative Generator SEQ Development Officer before applying. The third round of the Breakthrough. Emerging Indigenous Contemporary Musicians Recording initiative is now open for applications. The Breakthrough program provides funding to emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians and bands to produce a high quality recording of original tracks, suitable for broadcasting and commercial release. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 28 October 2011. Program information and guidelines are available on the website.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Emerging Issues Funding provides grants of up to $200,000 for large scale projects that strengthen social cohesion, community harmony and cross cultural understanding. Incorporated, not-for-profit organisations and local government are welcome to apply. Go to www.harmony.gov.au for more information.
The Seed Arts Grant Fund aims to assist Australian artists from any background, creating art and music across any genre, to establish themselves as self-sustained professionals. The 2011 round of funding is now open. For information visit www.theseedfund.org
Arts Queensland offers support for two different touring options through its Touring Fund. Full application details for the following opportunities can be found at www.arts.qld.gov.au. Applications for the annual touring menu program from Queensland and interstate producers wishing to tour Queensland in 2013 will close 31 October 2011. Producers may submit an application to list their product on a menu of endorsed touring product. Applications close on Monday 31 October 2011. Applications supported through the flexible touring grants program are generally smaller, niche tours, with established presenter commitment and community demand. Applications can be submitted anytime, allowing six to eight weeks processing time.
