Little Tern (Sternula albifrons)

City-wide significant species for conservation are those which are recognised as locally significant to the city and are identified as Matters of Local Environmental Significance (MLES). A methodology was used to define species of city-wide significance based on scientifically robust criteria determined by an expert panel, and these criteria applied to the established lists of vascular flora and vertebrate fauna species for the city. For a complete list of local significant species, please refer to Schedule SC6.7.8 Appendix 4: Significant species of the City Plan.

The small eastern Australian population of Little Tern (Sternula albifrons) is a City-wide significant species and is listed as least concern in Queensland.
