Environment support

Council Officer advising a resident

City of Gold Coast (City) provides a range of support and advice to individuals, groups and businesses to encourage greater responsibility and care for our environment and its natural assets.

  • Advice and support is available to individuals and groups who want to reduce their impact on the environment. See our Sustainable living and Waste and recycling pages for advice and more information.
  • Most of the habitat supporting our native plants and animals is found on private properties. Through Conservation partnerships private landholders can contribute to the city's liveability. There are three levels of support from the City.
  • Advice and support is available to businesses who want to operate more sustainably and reduce their environmental footprint. For waste and recycling help, see our Reduce business and industry waste page. For information and advice on saving water, see our Business Watersaver program.
  • Environmental education programs and resources are available to help raise awareness and increase community action.
  • More than 35,000 free trees are given away to ratepayers early every year by the City, to help make the city greener.
  • Nature Conservation Assistance Program (NCAP): City provides financial assistance to private landholders for on-ground restoration projects that protect and enhance the natural assets of the Gold Coast.

If you can’t find the information or advice you need, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.
