An exciting new recycling experience is now available at the Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre. Recycle Street will make recycling easier as part of the City’s ongoing commitment to improve the Gold Coast's environmental footprint.

Opening hours

Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre is open every day except for Christmas Day and Good Friday.

The City’s waste management facilities experience peak demand between 10am and 2pm. Avoid delays by timing your visit outside these times.

Accepted items

The Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre accepts general waste and recycles the following items:

  • car batteries (lead acid)
  • cardboard
  • charity donation bins
  • comingled recyclables (yellow top bins) - aluminium cans, paper, plastic and glass bottles
  • concrete (small domestic loads only)
  • cooking oil (up to 20 litres)
  • domestic green waste
  • Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)
  • eWaste
  • gas bottles - empty (up to 9 kilograms)
  • household hazardous waste, e.g. paint, pool chlorine, herbicides, fuel, oven cleaners, etc. (up to 20 litres)
  • motor oil
  • scrap metal
  • soil and clean fill (road base and clay base only - small domestic loads only)
  • whitegoods (degassing available).

The Centre does not accept commercial or work waste. Commercial waste is accepted at the waste and recycling centres at Stapylton (all), Reedy Creek (all) and Molendinar (commercial green waste only).


Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre upgrade

Construction works are taking place at the Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre to create an exciting new recycling experience.

The improved facility will make recycling easier as part of the City's ongoing commitment to improve the Gold Coast's environmental footprint.

Customers are advised that a temporary recycling area will be in operation at the facility during construction. As a result, visitors to the Waste and Recycling Centre may experience minor delays during this time. Please check the live camera feed on this site for estimated wait times before visiting the facility.

Customers are advised to temporarily visit Molendinar Waste and Recycling Centre for all of their bulk waste and recycling needs during this time.
