Water performance reports

Water and sewerage services play an important role in our health and wellbeing. These services are regulated by a number of government departments, most notably the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME), the Department of Health, Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs, and Department of Environment and Science.

Key Performance Indicators

The [previous] Queensland Department of Energy and Water Supply (now DNRME) introduced a new way to track performance of water and sewerage service providers through Key Performance Indicators which give communities an overview of the general state of their water and sewerage infrastructure and services including water security, financial status, customer engagement and environmental performance.

External factors affecting performance

There are a wide range of 'external' factors which can influence our performance including:

  • Climate - rainfall patterns, evaporation and temperature.
  • Geography - geology (the type of soil) and topography of the region.
  • Size - size does matter! The number of people connected and the size of the area being services all play a role.
  • Asset age - old assets may require more maintenance/repairs and may be less efficient.
  • Location - Queensland is a big state with communities ranging from urban cities and towns to rural, semi-rural and remote.
  • Services provided - water treatment.
  • Water source - water from a river, dam or bore may require different treatment. Distance to supply affects pumping and infrastructure costs.
  • Regulation - we need to achieve strict water quality standards through water and sewerage treatment.

City of Gold Coast is required to prepare and make available our Annual Water and Sewerage Services Performance Reports.
