About Emerging Community Maps

The Emerging Community is defined as a Domain in the Gold Coast Planning Scheme to ensure that emerging community areas are conserved and maintained in rural use until they are required for park living or urban purposes. To ensure that, when emerging communities are developed more intensely, their development is based on detailed land use planning work consistent with the Desired Environmental Outcomes (DEOs), Planning Strategies and Land Use Themes of the Gold Coast City Planning Scheme.

A full explanation of emerging communities is provided in Part 5, Division 2, Chapter 18 of the Planning Scheme.
