Gravity sewer CCTV inspections

City of Gold Coast is conducting a condition assessment program of the sewerage network which includes Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) inspection of sewer mains and potential cleaning.

The City commenced this proactive inspection program in 2013-14 and is committed to inspecting the entire gravity sewer network. Condition assessment of the gravity sewer network is vital in determining a renewal and repair program for subsequent years.

Inspection of the network is conducted by sending a remote camera into the sewer network to inspect its condition. Although your sewer service will not be impacted, customers may occasionally notice a truck temporarily accessing manholes in roadways, verges or parkland when attending to this work.

Contractors and City staff will carry identification on them at all times. Part of this CCTV work may involve cleaning of sewer mains using high pressure cleaning equipment. As a precautionary measure, property occupiers / owners are advised to secure / lower toilet lids at all times.

Due to the nature of this work and the equipment used, some odour and noise may occur in your area, however this will be temporary. There will be no interruptions to your sewerage service.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding while the work is in progress. If you require further information please call our Customer Contact Centre on 07 5667 5801 or 1300 000 928.
