  • Over 3 million people visited our libraries last year making libraries one of the most popular public venues in the city.
  • There are 300 internet PCs available for public access in libraries across the city - booked for 367,080 hours of use last year.
  • There were 344,195 sessions accessing the public access Wi-Fi.
  • Last year we processed 5,872,353 loans – that's an average of about 20 borrowings per member or 10 loans per head of population (this compares to a national average of 7.3 for 2013-14) making us one of the busiest library services in Australia.
  • 619,845 holds were placed.
  • You can choose from approximately 935,851 items from our collections of DVDs, CDs, books and magazines.
  • 183 staff are employed.
  • We answered approximately 273,289 customer enquiries last year.
  • More than 192,000 items were added to the collection last year including latest DVDs, best sellers and award winning books and current magazines.
  • 13,598 members borrowed 185,857 eBooks and eAudiobooks from our online library last year.
  • 3968 people attended IT training courses offered last year.
  • City Libraries hosted 5145 events which attracted 127,417 attendees.
  • Many of our libraries have community meeting spaces available for booking.
  • Picture Gold Coast has a collection of 23,618 digitised images.
  • The Mobile Library Service has 23 stops throughout the city.
  • Special Needs Library supports 1317 special needs members and has 1941 items in the collection.
