Reading with your child at home can be a relaxing and enjoyable routine, so drop into your local library to explore and choose some books to enjoy at home or join in the Baby rhyme time, Storytime and Toddler time. You can also visit Book Box, which is an early years lending library and play-based learning space perfect for a visit with your little one.

Books for new babies

Babies' eyes are still developing up to night months of age, so it's easier for them to see black and white, high-contrast images. Gold Coast Libraries has a large collection of black and white books, perfect for babies 0-9 months.

How to find black and white books in the library catalogue:

1. Log in to the library catalogue by clicking on the 'Log in' link.
2. Type 'black and white board books' in the search bar and press enter.
