Upcycled book sculpture 2018

Expressions of interest are now open to artist/s or arts groups to create a large scale installation art work, live on site at City Libraries, (Broadbeach and/or Elanora) during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, 4 April to 15 April. We are looking for a stunning artwork/s that transforms the perception of the space and captures the imagination of our visitors.

Gold Coast City Libraries attract over 57,133 visitors each week and are well placed to provide a platform for showcasing art to a large audience and creating a unique experience for visitors. An artist bursary of $5000 will be provided to the successful artist or arts group to include cost of materials and resources.

The art installation is to be constructed live on site inside the library space, within a 7-10 day period during the Commonwealth Games. The installation could be large scale or multiple smaller pieces of work. The installation could be free standing, mounted from a wall, floor or foyer area or hung from ceiling space. The installation is required to be sculptural/three-dimensional (3D) and made predominately from used books. (All used books required for the installation would be supplied by City Libraries).
