Cr Glenn Tozer is working with community groups and City colleagues to see the Gold Coast realise its full potential as a premier destination for businesses, students and tourists while remaining the ideal place to raise a family.
As a father of three sons, Cr Tozer aims to build on the legacy of pioneering families who have created a strong community spirit in Mudgeeraba and the Hinterland, and to encourage this spirit among the many new families in the area.
With 15 years corporate experience with companies including Rydges Hotels, Fairfax Ltd and Sensis, Cr Tozer is well-equipped to deliver for the division and city, working on key infrastructure projects, enabling community groups to be more effective, and protecting World Heritage listed natural areas. In his roles prior to being elected in 2012, he managed advertising and marketing campaigns to the collective value of approximately $30 million.
From 2008 to 2015, Cr Tozer owned a cattle breeding business with his family, producing delicious Wagyu beef on a family farm in Grafton, and also spent six years as a director and chairman of local media company Juice Media Limited, who broadcast on the airwaves as Juice 107.3FM. With his wife Jude, Cr Tozer supports local and national charities through filming short documentaries for social enterprise.
All of these roles gave him an important insight into the opportunities and challenges of running a small business.
Cr Tozer has a particular interest in enabling and growing the ICT industry on the coast and has been involved with the Gold Coast Start-Up Weekend, GovHack 2013, and other Gov2.0 and digital industry initiatives.
In his limited spare time, Cr Tozer enjoys time at local playgrounds or the beach with his young sons, playing and watching basketball, or checking out live music in the city. Cr Tozer co-produces local music events such as Summertime Sessions in the Village and is a freelance writer for BlankGC street press.
Cr Tozer is available for appointments on request, and is always in his Swan Lane office on Tuesday morning between 9am and 11am, when Council is not in recess.
Cr Tozer and his team conduct regular street meet community consultations in local parks throughout the year and you can always catch him on social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
