If you are a party in civil legal proceedings, under section 134A of the Evidence Act 1977 you can apply to Council of the City of Gold Coast (Council) to produce, for your inspection, documents that are relevant to an issue in the proceedings and are in Council's possession.
Note: Inspection of documents is only made by appointment between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday or by prior arrangement.
Your application for copies of documents held by Council must be made in writing, quoting Section 134A of the Evidence Act 1977 or use Council’s Request for Information Evidence Act application form.

Your written application must be accompanied by a copy of your receipt for payment of the Evidence Act inspection fee and at least one of the following:
You can lodge your Request for Information Evidence Act application form and pay the Evidence Act inspection fee at any City Customer Service Centre.
Evidence Act inspection fee - $45.90
A4 page document copy fee - $2.60/page (maximum copy fee limited to $67.65)
A3 page document copy fee - $1.90/page
Council may refuse to provide access because:
Council supplies documents requested for a legal proceeding in accordance with Section 134A (3) of the Evidence Act 1977.
Note: the documents will be supplied to you on the condition that you only use or disclose copies of these documents for the purpose of the legal proceedings.
You may be held in contempt of court for disclosing documents obtained under the Evidence Act for any other purpose.
Once we receive your properly completed application, including payment of your inspection fee, you will receive a response to your request within 10 working days.
If you have requested copies of documents held by Council, we will contact you to notify you of any copy fees. Upon payment of any copy fees, the copied documents can be posted by mail, sent electronically (depending on number and size of documents) or collected from the Customer Service Centre, 8 Karp Court, Bundall.
