Music Action Plan – AAM Music Managers Round Table Workshop

The Music Action Plan 2021 (MAP 2021) provides a blueprint for the City that will positively impact the live music sector on the Gold Coast by providing access to resources, promotion of Gold Coast music nationally and internationally and stronger partnerships across all tiers of government, peak bodies, and private enterprise.

Central to the Plan are a series of programs including the EXCEED Program that offers a range of initiatives and activities to support the development of the Gold Coast music industry. A key initiative of the EXCEED Program is – 'Association of Artist Managers (AAM) Music Managers Round Table Workshop'.

Six successful participants will take part in an inventive four-hour workshop with experienced managers Maggie Collins (DZ Deathrays, Donny Benet), Matty Woo (Dune Rats, Skeggs Totty) and Graham (Asho) Ashton (Tia Gostelow, Busby Marou). Participants will be working peer to peer to build strategy, share knowledge and gain support. Additionally, they will receive membership to the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and have access to national professional development opportunities.

The workshop will be held at The Basement, Home of the Arts (HOTA), 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise, 19 June 2019 from 1pm to 5pm.

Who can apply?

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate they are an emerging/developing professional music manager; have an ongoing commitment to a professional artist management career; and, contribute to their music community.

As such, applications will be assessed on the following three criteria:

  1. Willingness for professional development in key career areas.
  2. Outline of long term plans detailed, realistic but demonstrating potential growth.
  3. Potential to contribute to the industry and Gold Coast more broadly.

The selection panel will consist of one representative from City of Gold Coast, one representative from AAM and one Gold Coast music industry representative. Applications are also reviewed by the program facilitators and experienced managers.

To be eligible for this program you must:

  • Be an emerging/developing professional music manager.
  • Be a permanent resident or Australian citizen.
  • Be a resident of the Gold Coast (4208 – 4287, 9726, 9728, 9729)
  • Be over 18 years of age at the date of application.

Exclusions:

You are ineligible to apply for this program if:

  • You are an employee or employee-like contractor to the City of Gold Coast; or
  • are a City of Gold Coast entity and/or strategic partner.
