Project description:

The City of Gold Coast has completed works to upgrade the roundabout at Napper Road and Arundel Drive, Arundel with new traffic signals.

The community will benefit from reduced traffic delays, improved pedestrian and cyclist facilities and improved safety. The upgrades will assist traffic flow during the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 and will provide legacy benefits for all road users.

Construction details:

  • replacement of the roundabout with traffic signals
  • new road pavement, pathways and signalised crossings for pedestrians and cyclists
  • changes to on-street parking in Napper Road and Arundel Drive to provide space for the intersection lanes.

Schedule of works:

Commenced: March 2017
Completed: September 2017
Cost: $3.7 million

Benefits to the local community:

  • The project will assist delivery of a successful Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018 by improving traffic flow.
  • Traffic signals at this location will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • The project will support walking and cycling as preferred modes of travel to the nearby Arundel State School.
