Bonogin Road Black Spot updgrades

Commencing: January 2019
Completion: July 2019
Total project cost: $1.9 million

Project information

Works to encourage walking and cycling are underway on Gooding Drive.

We’re constructing a new two-metre path along Gooding Drive (southern side), and a pedestrian bridge over Gin House Creek, to provide a safe and accessible link from Merrimac State School to Lakelands Drive.

The path will enable active transport to surrounding destinations and improve network connectivity, accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project is jointly funded by the City and the Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.

Project description

  • new concrete shared path, two metres wide
  • new kerb and channel
  • extension of cross-culvert over Gin House Creek
  • upgrade stormwater drains
  • landscaping and pedestrian safety fencing.

Benefits for the local community

  • safer, better connected local path network
  • smooth new concrete path and landscaping
  • designed to comply with Disability Discrimination Act 1992
  • improve on-street vehicular movement.

Impacts

  • Temporary lane closures will be required and traffic management will be in place.
  • During construction there will be temporary traffic delays, noise and dust at times.

We encourage all road users to take extra care when workers are in the area and observe traffic signs and speed restrictions. We will do our best to minimise disruptions, and we thank you in advance for your patience.
