Planning and building

The Gold Coast is a vibrant and attractive city. We are working hard to maintain our enviable lifestyle and ensure our city continues to thrive in a sustainable way.

Development applications

Please note:

On 3 July 2017 the State Government will be implementing a new planning framework which includes replacing the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 with the Planning Act 2016.

The City is amending the City Plan to align with the new Act creating Version 4, which will also commence on 3 July 2017.

For customers lodging development assessment applications, there will be some minor change to terminology, shorter assessment timeframes, and changes to decision rules for code assessable applications. There will be an emphasis on pre lodgement meetings and improving the quality and completeness of applications at the time of lodgement.

eLodgement forms have been amended to reflect the new framework which will be available from 3 July 2017. Other forms, checklists, templates and fact sheets will be available on the City’s website from 1 July 2017
