Woodroffe Avenue shared path upgrade

Commencing: May 2017
Completion: September 2017
Cost: $770,000

Project information

We are upgrading the path on the southern side of Woodroffe Avenue from Sundale Green Bridge to Main Beach.

The new 2.5 metre wide shared path will support spectators walking and cycling to venues during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) and provide a legacy benefit for the Main Beach community.

The Broadwater Parklands will be hosting the marathon, aquatic and triathlon events as part of the GC2018, and the hockey event will be hosted at the nearby Gold Coast Hockey Centre on Musgrave Avenue.

Construction details

  • new 2.5 metre wide shared path connecting the Sundale Green Bridge to Main Beach
  • additional tree planting and landscaping works
  • improved crossing facilities at Pacific Street and Rankin Parade
  • wayfinding signage installed to direct path users along Woodroffe Avenue to Tedder Avenue, Main Beach and beyond to Surfers Paradise.

This project forms part of the City's 2016-17 investment of more than $10 million to extend its active transport network and create a better connected Gold Coast.
