Commencing: August 2017
Completion: December 2017
Total project cost: $2.1 million

Project information

Road reconstruction works and a shared path upgrade are underway along Golden Four Drive, from Dune Street to Short Street in Tugun. These works will improve cycle and pedestrian safety along this section of the Principal Active Transport route.

Construction details

  • Road reconstruction to improve surface quality and compliance with current standards.
  • Wider footpaths and new kerb and channel.
  • Road widening and removal of some on-street carparks to accommodate cycle lanes.
  • Raised pedestrian crossings and kerb build outs on eastern side streets.
  • New line markings will formalise parking bays on the western side of Golden Four Drive (parking on the eastern side will remain unchanged).

We are working to minimise disruptions. However, local residents may experience traffic delays, noise and dust at times. Night works may be required to minimise traffic disruptions. Thank you for your patience.

Please take extra care during the roadworks. Remember to observe warning signs and slow down when driving past the construction zone. Thank you for your patience.

Benefits to the community

  • Improved safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Dedicated on-road cycle lanes in both directions.
  • A wider shared path.
  • New tree planting and landscaping.
  • Connecting paths and ramps to improve disabled access at bus stops.
  • New wayfinding signage will be installed along the route.
