Winders Park, Currumbin Creek
Gold Coast City Council has proposed a series of options to guide the future development of Winders Park, on Currumbin Creek.
Located between Thrower Drive and the Gold Coast Highway, the upgrade of the park was listed as a priority within the Currumbin Creek Recreation Concept Plan submitted to Council in August 2006.
A draft Master Plan was presented for community review in November 2006. Subsequent feedback helped outline issues of concern.
A revised Draft Master Plan was prepared addressing these concerns and this was available for public consultation for six weeks, giving the community the opportunity to have another say.
Community response to Draft Master Plan
The Revised Draft Master Plan has been modified to ensure changes to the park are minimal and the existing open character and creek views are not compromised. Popular proposals, such as the walkway-cycleway under Thrower Bridge and a meandering foreshore path, have been retained.
