ALARMS

ALARMS is a risk based framework which is applied to all licensing and complaint management processes.

The risk management framework allows for the development of a methodology to determine the level of risk, and hence the priority of Council's response to issues. Simply put, a risk framework assists in 'focusing our efforts on what is important for Council and the community.'

The risk management framework is modelled on principles as outlined in the Australian Standards for Risk Management.

The framework has assisted in estimating and planning for the frequency of inspections, complaint response, development of checklists and documentation for managing complaints.

The application of this methodology to activities results in each activity being given a risk rating which in turn informs the level of priority or resources that should be expended in relation to that activity.

By rating all activities against common risk criteria, resources can be targeted to those activities with a higher risk. This risk rating allows for the establishment of a range of service levels, which see priority given to high risk activities.
