Burleigh Central Oceanway

The Oceanway program seeks to increase the quality and capacity of the city's foreshore corridors. Gold Coast City Council engaged the community in October 2006 regarding future development of the Burleigh foreshore.

A master plan has been produced for the area between the Burleigh - Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club and John Laws Park. This area encompasses the old Paragon Restaurant building site which is scheduled for demolition in July 2007.

The master plan will deliver improved access and open space for recreation, preservation and enhancement of the natural character and environment, and reinforce the cultural identity of Burleigh.

The Burleigh Central Oceanway includes:

• creation of additional public open space
• major pavement upgrades and viewing structures
• landscaping and green space improvements
• lighting
• beach and park furniture
• shade plantings
• artwork installations and treatments

Initial works will commence in July 2007 with completion by December 2007.
