Mirage to Sea World Oceanway

Gold Coast City Council recently invited the community to have its say on the proposed Marina Mirage to Sea World Oceanway.

The consultation process, held between April and November 2007, allowed a wide range of stakeholders to provide feedback on the project’s key issues. Stakeholders also identified what they valued within the area, and offered ideas for future improvements to open space.

With this feedback in mind, Council has now finalised the PDF identifier masterplan (PDF 2.5mb) for the project.

The plan outlines the Oceanway alignment, path connections, furniture upgrades and landscape treatments.

The new Oceanway will form part of the city’s Oceanway network - 36 kilometres of pathways stretching along beaches from the Gold Coast Seaway (The Spit) to the Point Danger Lighthouse (Coolangatta). It will encourage residents and tourists to ride or walk to the area’s foreshores, thus reducing our coastal footprint, reducing traffic on our roads, and encouraging healthy habits.

Construction on the project will begin in May 2008 and is expected to finish in August 2008. The project will cost $250,000.
