Snapper Rocks Emergency Works

A new section of Gold Coast Oceanway path will replace the existing boardwalk at Snapper Rocks. The ageing boardwalk is structurally unsound and does not meet current disability standards.

The $400,000 project includes demolition of the existing boardwalk and construction of a new path and associated seawall. On completion, the new section will be part of the 36-kilometre network of pathways that make up the Gold Coast Oceanway.

Council is committed to improving the city's foreshore and delivering the best possible facilities for residents and visitors. The pathways provide healthy and environmentally friendly ways for pedestrians and cyclists to explore the renowned beaches of the Gold Coast.

Schedule of works

Snapper Rocks emergency works will start in August and will finish by October 2009.

Snapper Rocks Road will be closed (from Marine Parade). However, vehicle access will be available for visitors to Rainbow Bay Surf Life Saving Club and service vehicles.

Council thanks you for your patience during this time and asks that you please take care around the works and use alternative pedestrian paths.
