Fishing
Fishing is one of the Gold Coast's favourite past-times and Gold Coast City Council provides many platforms and fishing spots for both the serious and recreational angler.
Fishing on Hinze Dam
The Hinze Dam catchment area is a great place to do some freshwater fishing. Fishing permits are required when fishing at Hinze Dam and cost:
- $5 (weekly permit)
- $40 (yearly permit)
Permits are available from Council offices and Hinze Dam Rangers. Each permit shall entitle an angler, his or her partner and dependant children (under 18 years) to fish with one rod or fishing line each.

Protect our waterways
You can all help protect our waterways and fish stocks, by doing a few simple things.
- Dispose of all rubbish, bait bags and tangled fishing lines thoughtfully.
- Practise catch and release, or only keep the fish that you need.
- Observe bag limits.
