Christmas Lights Competition
The winners of Council’s 2009 Christmas Lights Competition will be announced on 10 December at Robina Town Centre (near The Lake) 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Winners will share in more than $15,000 worth of prizes.
How to enter and enquiries
Join hundreds of Gold Coast residents, businesses and community groups in lighting the city with the magic of Christmas, with entries closing Monday 23 November.

Please note:
- entrants must have their displays ready for judging by 1 December
- lights and displays must be illuminated from 10 - 24 December for public viewing

Judging
Tuesday 1 to Sunday 6 December
Entrants will receive a confirmation letter and promotional sign to display at their property during the judging period. Judges will notify the owner / occupier once they have visited.
Judges use score sheets rating each property on visual appeal, overall impact, uniqueness, variety of decorations used, safety and tidiness and any environmental and energy efficient initiatives.
Award ceremony

Entrants and friends are invited to enjoy a special presentation ceremony where trophies and prizes will be awarded.
Prizes
Over $15,000 of prizes are on offer, plus the Heritage Building Society Street Party with a program of live entertainment and activities over 3 nights for the winning street display. Winners of all categories to be announced at the Christmas Lights Award Ceremony, Thursday 10 December.

Bus tours and public viewing
Residents will be able to see the lights for themselves by taking a Christmas Lights tour. A list of the displays can be found at www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au from Friday 11 December, or by phoning (07) 5581 6877.
Bus tours depart from the Gold Coast Arts Centre, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise each night at 7pm between 10 - 24 December. Bookings are essential direct with Murray’s Coaches on 13 22 51.
The cost is $14 for adults and $9 for children with $1 from each ticket sold being donated to the 2009 Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
