Traineeships

Gold Coast City Council is proud to be a part of an attempt to lower unemployment through the development of a job creation program focused on traineeships. A host of traineeship opportunities are provided throughout council on an annual basis, ranging from:

Full-time traineeship positions are advertised on an annual basis approximately October/November with proposed starts dates of February/March in the following year.

Note that no traineeship recruitment occurs between June to September.

A full-time traineeship is usually for a 12 month period. During this time, trainees gain the knowledge, practical skills, experience and qualifications needed to pursue positions either within council or in the wider jobs market.

The full-time traineeship scheme is aimed at those most at risk of remaining unemployed. As such we aim to recruit youth, both male and female trainees in all roles, applicants from different backgrounds such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and persons with disabilities.
