Owning a dog carries the responsibility of ensuring your pet is not a nuisance or menace to your neighbours and the wider community. Fines are in place for those who disregard the regulations.
Active & Healthy GC dog walking
Dogs are great walking companions and personal trainers. Get out and active with your pet today, and you will both reap the rewards!
Spend a free morning out with all the family, including the dog and join a healthy walk and morning tea at the park. Council's Animal Management team will be there from 7.30am - 9am to provide advice, tips and giveaways.

Council's four golden rules
- Register your dog
- Walk your dog on a lead
- Have your dog in a fenced yard
- Pick up your dog's faeces
Dogs on beaches
You can walk your dog on most Gold Coast Beaches but be sure to follow these simple rules.
- Keep your dog on a leash and remember that dogs aren't permitted within 200 metres of flagged areas.
(You may be issued with a $150 on the spot fine if you don't comply.) - You must clean up after your dog. A $75 on the spot fine applies where you fail to remove your dogs defecation.

Dog pounds
The Gold Coast City Council may be able to assist in recovering your lost pet, if you contact one of your local pounds.
