Around a quarter of residents on the Gold Coast is aged over 55, and the city is recognised as a popular destination for older visitors. Like the rest of Australia, the Gold Coast population is ageing and Council is recognising and responding to the needs of older people.

Council's Social Planning and Development Branch contributes to development and implementing policies, conducting research, providing input into planning processes, supporting community members and organisations, project and events management, and advocacy and advice for seniors.

Homewise Guide
The Homewise Guide has been put together collaboratively between Council, the University of Queensland and local seniors' networks. The Guide provides information regarding universal home design and suggests ways of making your home more accessible, adaptable and sustainable.
