Gold Coast Local Heritage Register

Laurel Hill Farmhouse
The Gold Coast's heritage places reflect aspects of our local history and culture. They provide a tangible connection to the past. These places form mementos for present and future generations to learn about, understand and to some degree experience the past. Our association with heritage places enable us to develop sustainable communities in which people can feel that they are a part of.
The Gold Coast Local Heritage Register represents an opportunity for the city to bring to life its colourful history. We have an obligation to do this not just for residents but also for the many people who visit the Gold Coast from interstate and internationally. So many return over and over again to the city and it is important that existing amongst our new and innovate buildings there are precious heritage gems to be found and delight to be had in reminiscing.

We as a community also have a duty of care to future generations. By protecting significant elements of Gold Coast's cultural heritage today we enable our children to have input on the type and form of city they want to live in.
The Gold Coast Local Heritage Register was established in 2010 and with community support will eventually grow into something that reflects who we are and our origins as one of Australia's most vibrant cities.
