Parking in Burleigh Heads

On 27 March 2017, we changed the way we manage parking in Burleigh Heads.

The City of Gold Coast implemented the ‘ParkInCentre Scheme’ to improve the management of parking in the area.

We know more than ever about parking in Burleigh thanks to in-ground parking sensor technology, which has been used to develop the new regulations and parking fees.

The aim of the scheme is to increase vehicle turnover and accessibility within the centre to ensure customers, residents and visitors find it easier to park.

The new parking restrictions apply seven days a week (9am - 5pm), including public holidays:

More information about parking

  • There are over 430 free and untimed spaces along the beachfront between First Avenue and Kelly Avenue.
  • All beachfront parking north of First Avenue will remain free and unrestricted.
  • Paid parking will be introduced for a small number of spaces (54) on the beachfront at Goodwin Terrace to increase vehicle turnover in this high demand area.
  • All day parking will be available at Alex Black Car Park, to a maximum of $5 per day.
  • New bike racks will increase the number of bicycle spaces in the village from 30 to 42, replacing existing bicycle racks with new high quality designed racks.
  • Timed parking (free for three hours) will be introduced to a number of parking spaces along the Esplanade from First Avenue to Gold Coast Highway, and from Goodwin Terrace to Burleigh Headland.

The City of Gold Coast has been using paid parking as an effective way to manage parking demand at our beaches since 1966.

By offering a combination of free, paid and timed parking spaces we can manage the growing demand for parking and ensure that everyone has access to our beaches and businesses.

Works to install new signage, parking meters and bicycle racks will take place during off-peak periods to minimise impacts to nearby residents and businesses.
