Celebrate GC 2018

Celebrate GC is over for another year. Details about the 2019 event will be announced in due course.

In 2018 there was fun for the whole family with live tunes all afternoon, arts and crafts, skateboarding, roller derby demos, a silent disco and local street food.

The music program included folk inspired pop Queensland duo, Busby Marou, supported by Caravana Sun and a host of local and interstate artists including Katie Who, Tully John and Liza-Jane, ELSKA, Karuah, Izzy Day and Old Man Friday Music.

  • Is the event free?

    Yes.

  • Are there free activities?

    Yes. There will be two stages with live music, a silent disco, Castle and Cubby play village, HOTA ArtLab, roller derby demos and a skateboard school. 

  • How do I get there?

    Celebrate GC is a street party held along Thomas Drive and Mawarra Street, Chevron Island. Catch the G:link to Cypress Avenue Surfers Paradise station and cross the Chevron Island bridge, or make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event.

    Limited parking will be available in surrounding streets on Chevron Island. Translink will continue to operate buses servicing Thomas Drive with two temporary bus stops.

  • Can I bring alcohol?

    No. 

  • Can I bring my pet?

    For the wellbeing of all attending the event, we recommend pets are left at home.

  • What if it rains?

    If the event is cancelled due to wet weather or for any other reason, we will update the Facebook event page

  • What time is the event?

    11am to 4pm.

  • What time is Busby Marou playing?

    3pm to 4pm on the main stage.

  • What food will be available?

    Yes. Traffic is being diverted around Chevron Island via both Anembo Street and Stanhill Drive. Directional signage will be in place.
