The following is a list of Christmas carol events that were held on the Gold Coast in 2017. For information about Christmas 2018, please check back closer to the date. To view information about an event that was held near you in 2017, just click on the name.

Runaway Bay Carols by Candlelight - Saturday 25 November

5.30pm to 8.30pm
Kevin Bycroft Field, Lae Drive, Runaway Bay

The Runaway Bay Carols by Candlelight will be hosted by local personalities, John Kerr and Danielle Goullet, and will feature Santa, a live seven piece band and entertainers; Rhydian Lewis, Kathleen Moore, Jack Watson and Kiara Rodrigues. There will be performances by local school choirs, acrobatic and dancing squads, followed by a Fireworks Spectacular at 8.15pm.

Bring your family and friends, picnic rugs and chairs, and sing along to your favourite Christmas Carols. There will be lots of hot food, coffee, cold drinks, face painting, LED candles and lots more. Proudly sponsored by Cr Cameron Caldwell, Division 3.

Mudgeeraba Community Carols - Sunday 26 November

4pm to 7.30pm
Firth Park, Somerset Drive, Mudgeeraba.

What better way to get in to the Christmas spirit than with the Mudgeeraba Community Carols. Bring the family, a blanket and some Christmas cheer, and be part of a community carols event showcasing local schools and other community groups. This is the perfect opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the year that has been.

Ashmore Community Carols - Saturday 2 December

5pm to 8.15pm

This will be a community carols night filled with food, coffee and singalong. There will be jumping castles, a petting zoo, games and face painting all free for the kids. So bring your family for an evening celebrating the festive season.


Mayor’s Christmas Carols - Saturday 2 December

2pm to 9pm
Broadwater Parklands, Marine Parade, Southport

The Broadwater Parklands will come alive with the sounds of Christmas at the 2017 Mayor’s Christmas Carols. Singing superstar Christine Anu will headline the night, along with special guests Emma Pask and Prinnie Stevens. The free family event will be hosted by Channel Nine’s Shelley Craft and will feature an entertaining Smurfs Christmas Show for the little ones, a bunch of food trucks, and of course an appearance by Santa himself.

Interactive kid’s fun commences at 2pm, with the main show kicking off at 5pm. To conclude the evening, a spectacular fireworks show will light up the night sky at 9pm.

Elanora Community Carols in the Park - Saturday 2 December

3pm to 8.30pm
Eddie Kornhauser Park, Casuarina Drive, Elanora

Bring a picnic blanket for a family friendly Christmas event. There will be face painting, raffles, delicious street food trucks, jumping castle, Santa will arrive in a police car, carols with the Salvation Army Brass Band, and a kid’s movie. Money raised will go to the Elanora Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

Varsity Lakes Christmas Carols - Saturday 2 December

Varsity Waterfront – Varsity Parade, Varsity Lakes

You’re invited to the Varsity Lakes Christmas Carols at the new waterfront location. Enjoy a great night out for the family with festive cheer, delicious eats, traditional carols and entertainment hosted by Al Dobie from 92.5 Gold FM and spectacular fireworks.

Tugun Lights Up - Saturday 2 December

Wyberba Street Reserve, O’Connor Street, Tugun

Tugun Lights Up returns in 2017 with a free Christmas movie to kick off a month long celebration of Christmas in Tugun Village. Businesses will again be lit up to create a festive atmosphere.

On 2 December families can enjoy an afternoon and evening in the Wyberba Street Reserve (just south of the Tugun Surf Life Saving Club) with a free screening of the 2003 Christmas movie Elf, starring Will Ferrell. There will be Christmas tunes and a special visit from Santa and his elves, as well as face painting and activities for the kids commencing from 4.30pm, with the movie screening at 7pm.

Studio Village Community Carols - Sunday 3 December

The 23rd annual Studio Village Community Carols will see a number of performers return to entertain and some new faces. Come along for international food vendors, Santa Bugs, Santa, fireworks and much more for a night of fun.

Broadbeach Christmas Carols - Saturday 9 December

Join us under the stars for the annual Broadbeach Christmas Carols. Enjoy an afternoon jam-packed with kid’s activities and incredible entertainment filled with Christmas spirit and joy. The night will end with fireworks at the conclusion of the concert.

Pacific Pines Christmas in the Park - Saturday 9 December

Christmas Carols with local entertainers. There will be market stalls, food trucks, a giant snow globe, glow stick products, raffles, rides and finishing with fireworks at 8pm. Santa will also be there. Remember to bring a rug and torch.

Coolangatta Christmas Carols - Sunday 10 December

Queen Elizabeth Park, Cnr McLean Street & Marine Parade, Coolangatta.

Coolangatta’s Queen Elizabeth Park will come alive with the spirit of Christmas with the free Coolangatta Christmas Carols presented by The Strand at Coolangatta. Sing along to your favourite Christmas carols and be entertained as skydiving Santa arrives in style.

Browse the Coolangatta Christmas Markets and grab a bite from the food trucks open from 5pm. There will also be activities for the kids, and magical Christmas performances for the whole family to enjoy. Come along and enjoy this free, family-friendly event to celebrate Christmas in Coolangatta.

Ormeau Carols - Sunday 10 December

From 4pm children will be able to enjoy the free rides, face painting and meeting the famous Ormeau Carols character hosts. There will be some of the Coast’s favourite food vans serving delicious treats and meals. There will also be a visit by Santa. The concert will begin at 7pm.

Currumbin Community Christmas Carols - Monday 11 December

Witness a world-class laser light show as we celebrate the festive season with song and dance at the annual Currumbin Community Christmas Carols. A free family event with children’s activities, food trucks, live entertainment and a traditional Christmas carols concert with a special guest appearance from Santa.

There will be competitions and prizes to be won. Bring a torch and a chair or picnic blanket.

Nerang Celebrates Christmas - Saturday 16 December

Bischoff Pioneer Park and Nerang Street, Nerang

A community celebration of Christmas for everyone. Afternoon entertainment program will feature local artists and school bands; huge evening program with traditional carols and a visit from Santa. Purchase ride passes or single ride tickets. There will be a wide selection of food stalls. Remember to bring your chair or rug. Entertainment starts from 3pm, main carols program from 6pm until fireworks finale at 8.30pm.

Southport Yacht Club Carols on the Broadwater - Saturday 16 December

Santa will arrive at 5.30pm. There will be face painting and glow sticks available. Book in at the Waterfront Restaurant or bring your deckchair and join us on the beach. Enjoy live entertainment by The Hip Replacements from the Waterscape Pontoon Bar. Strictly no BYO food or alcohol.

Jacobs Well Carols - Sunday 17 December

The evening will begin at 5.30pm with entertainment for the children by the magician, Awesome Adam, and then a visit from Santa at around 6.30pm. The carols and entertainment will follow with the night concluding with a fireworks spectacular.


Nineteenth Avenue Christmas Carols - Sunday 17 December

19th Avenue Shopping Centre Carpark, Nineteenth Avenue, Palm Beach

Come and enjoy this free annual festive celebration with an excellent array of local entertainment, brought to you by 19th Avenue Shopping Centre.

There will be a line-up of fantastic artists such as Memphis Moovers, up and coming girl sensations Chasing Velvet, Andrea Gallaher and VOX studio performers, D and D Performing Arts Dancers. Seasoned entertainer, Jo-Dee McLean and Valerie Edwards will also be there, plus a special appearance from the one and only, Santa.
