The City of Gold Coast is proud to be the host city for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct

Games Village site Parklands July 2015

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct is a vibrant community where people live, learn and work.

The 200 hectare health and knowledge precinct, located at Parklands in Southport, is rapidly growing and includes the state-of-the-art Gold Coast University Hospital and Griffith University, with a new private hospital also now under construction.

Already home to world-class research and allied medical facilities, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™ (GC2018) will bring forward an exciting new stage of the precinct.

Early works have begun for the development of the 29 hectare Commonwealth Games Village (adjacent to Griffith University), which will accommodate 6500 athletes and team officials in the lead up and during GC2018.

After the Commonwealth Games, this site will become a vibrant mixed-use residential community that will bring together and activate the entire health and knowledge precinct.

This overall redevelopment of the 29 hectare Parklands site will be the single-most significant legacy project for GC2018, with the health and knowledge precinct expected to create thousands of new jobs and strengthen and diversify the Gold Coast economy.

Construction of the Commonwealth Games Village is expected to be completed in 2017.
