One Million Stars

Heart shape made with ribbons

Help Brisbane artist Maryann Talia Pau weave one million stars by July 2017 for an installation at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).

Maryann aims to raise awareness of and reduce all forms of violence in our society through the simple act of weaving.

Individuals, groups and communities across Australia are all working together to help Mary Ann reach her goal of one million stars.

The City of Gold Coast has registered as a Star Weave Community, committing to weaving 10,000 stars by July 2017.

We need your help to reach this goal!

Visit any of the following City of Gold Coast libraries to get involved and learn how to weave:

Star Weave Solo

If you prefer to go it alone, you can still help us reach our goal by weaving at home then dropping your stars off at your local library.

Star Weave Jam

If you want to get your workplace, school, club or church involved, you can host your own Star Weave Jam and invite others to come along.

Stars can be made out of ribbon, recycled paper, magazines or any paper you like.

Gift Packaging and Accessories are giving One Million Stars supporters 30 per cent off 30 millimetre ribbon when buying ribbon online.
