This park provides numerous recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors to the area. It is a great spot to take your family to enjoy the playground, barbecue facilities, walking trails, off-leash dog exercise area, horse riding and shoreline fishing.

Boat anglers are able to access the picnic and toilet facilities by landing on the sandy beach of Tallebudgera Creek. Kayaks can also be launched from the reserve’s sandy beach.

The “peninsula section” is managed as a conservation area. Cross the narrow land bridge and enter a wilder place. Although close to the busy suburbs, this natural area is a quiet refuge for the diverse flora and fauna species that it supports.

Keep your eyes open and look up into the tree canopy because koalas are regularly sighted in the reserve, specifically within the vegetation along Tallebudgera Creek located in the park’s southern sections.

Dog exercise area and prohibited area maps

This park provides one of the largest off-leash dog exercise areas in the City. However, it is important to note that there are dog prohibited areas and places where dogs must remain on-lead.

Please refer to the relevant park maps in Tallebudgera on our Southern suburbs - Off-leash dog exercise areas and prohibited areas page, to avoid penalties.

Alternatively, you can download the GC Dog parks app, which is available for both iPhone and Android devices, providing information about dog parks on the Gold Coast, including the on-leash, off leash and prohibited areas.

Schuster Park Peninsula trail maps

Schuster Park walking trails are generally flat and level, suitable for all fitness levels. The peninsula trail provides excellent opportunities for nature observation and bushwalking but be sure to apply the mozzie repellent before leaving the carpark.

The walking trail and boardwalk traverse Melaleuca woodland, she-oak open forest, mangrove and saltmarsh communities, providing good bird watching opportunities. The saltmarsh and mangrove areas are often used by shorebirds, songbirds, and raptors such as whistling kite (Haliastur sphenurus) and swamp harrier (Circus approximans) for foraging or breeding habitat.

This significant wetland area provides nursery habitat for marine fish and crustacean species. Additionally, it provides key habitat features for insectivorous bats and terrestrial fauna including small mammals. Help protect this sensitive environment by staying on existing trails outlined on the Schuster Park peninsula trail maps below.
