Sports Facilities
Our sporting facilities are world-standard. They cater for a myriad of sports and were the training bases to many Olympic and Paralympic teams – including boxers, rowers, cyclists and soccer teams - in the lead up to the Sydney 2000 Games. They will also be key venues for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Sports Facilities Upgrades
Mallawa Drive Sporting Complex upgrade
Over the next six months, users of the Mallawa Drive Sporting Complex in Palm Beach will see improvements to the netball courts and lighting.
The $1.4 million project will upgrade the facility in line with compulsory Australian standards, including the Building Code of Australia, for elements including:
- obtrusive spill lighting for adjacent properties - our design engineers undertake design compliance through light modelling software to do this
- post construction auditing of the upgraded flood lighting system.
Works are expected to be completed in March 2013.
Inspections will be carried out during construction and completion phases to obtain certification in building approvals.
The project is part of Council’s program of regularly upgrading and maintaining its community assets to ensure they comply with regulation and to prolong their lifespan.
