Walking, public transport and carpooling

The City of Gold Coast (City) encourages all Gold Coast residents and visitors to leave the car at home and make active travel part of their daily routine. The program promotes and encourages active and healthy forms of transport including walking, cycling, carpooling and public transport.

Walking, catching public transport and carpooling are great ways to actively travel in our city. You may even consider driving part of the way or combining public transport with your ride or walk.

Walking

Walking costs nothing, reduces stress and improves fitness. Try walking to the local shops, school or work. Or, for a recreational stroll, try using one of the great Gold Coast walking tracks.

Use our online Gold Coast Community Directory to find walking groups in your local area, or check out our nature trail map to find a great place for bushwalking.

Use public transport

The City works in partnership with TransLink to provide a number of fast, frequent and reliable community and public transport options. If the distance you need to travel is too far, combine public transport with your walk or ride.

Active Carpooling

Carpool

Live too far away to walk or cycle to your destination? Why not give carpooling a try, and share a ride with people who live around you. Save money on daily costs including fuel, maintenance and parking fees.
